Photo frames are great memorials of our lives. They have been used for years. Change of ideas, change of computers. This could be the main idea of this article. In fact, this is the story of a Mac notebook from my view point. I used many different computers with different operating systems in my life. I was doing great with Windows XP and Vista operating systems recently. The computers I used were not equipped with best hardware of those days. At least they were operating well for me.  I used to restart the systems only when I installed a new driver, otherwise they used to operate nonstop for many days.

Security of my systems was quite important for me. To block hackers I installed best antivirus programs and I used to install new updates before automatic update did it.

Everything changed on August 2008 for me. I had been old me so far. I was looking for a file in my computer, then I realized that my files were being deleted. Nervously, I touched the on/off button of my power supply, the deep silence took over.

I couldn’t accept the defeat, of course. I took my hdd out and tried to clean it in another computer. No luck, there wasn’t a sign of a virus. I had to do something. First, considering the risk of losing all files, I thought of formatting the hdd and installing Windows again but I would need to re-install all the programs I have and it could be time consuming.  In fact, I was seeing some MacBook advertisements in internet and admired the design of these computers. I had a plan. I was going to buy one of them and say hello to MacBook as a deadly Windows user. 

I have never thought that I am going to use a Mac in my life. Now, I would like to talk about MacBook Air. Eight months have been passed since I joined Mac world, and I deserve talking about it after using it this much.

The thickest point on its body is 0.8 inches. We can say that it is a mini laptop. It has similarities with other MacBook computers. Some of the great features are backlight display, ambiance light sensor and a touchpad sensitive to hand movements. When using this touchpad if you want to rotate a picture you can do it with rotating your finger.

When we talk about what is inside this thin case; 1.6 GHz or 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU welcomes us. This CPU was designed to be used in thin cases by Intel. Besides, 2GB Ram and 1.8” 80 gb hdd are the standard features. Although Bluetooth and 802.11n are expected features, lack of an optical driver was a surprise. However, Macbook gained space and energy thanks to lack of an optical driver, and it still can work with external optical drivers.

Another good side of MacBook is that a full scale keyboard had been integrated to it. It means, writers (like me) or students who are bored of compressed notebook keyboards are going to like it. Anyway, it doesn’t mean MacBook hasn’t got bad sides. USB card slot, Firewire, Internal Ethernet jack and Express card slot are missing.

Apart from those, I really enjoy using this computer. It is incredibly thin, fast and delicious. Battery life is long enough. Quality of display is unquestionable if it is compared to other similar laptops. As a former deadly Windows user, after having a chance to use MacBook Air I can say that I’m not planning to go back to other systems again.

Design

        Canon design we used to see has been maintained with this model. 500D looks like 450D but locations of some buttons and shoot menu button on the top has changed significantly. LiveView mode has also been integrated to this menu. Similarly, video mode has been located on this button like we see on compact cameras. If you used Canon before, this camera will sound familiar to you.

        On the other hand, integrations between LCD and functions are great. Although information were viewable from LCD screen on previous model 450D, altering was not possible. You can see information and change it on new model 500D, a useful function.

       Total weight of the 500D (with battery and memory card) is 18.4 oz and the number increases with lens, of course. If advancements of features considered, we can say that it is even light. Lightweight and small SLR’s are already a trend of these days.

       CMOS Sensor of 50D, the higher level model, has been used in 500D. Sensor’s focal length multiplier is 1.6X. Canon has been using sensors with similar focal length multiplier values for years. We hope to see full frame sensors in this category.

Live View

        Like other entry-level cameras of Canon this model has LiveView, ability to see real time view from LCD display. Focus processing is fast in this mode and allows you take photos quickly. Of course the lens you are using will help you to make this faster (or slower). Similarly, this mode is available in movie mode.

HD Movie

        Canon’s digital SLR EOS 500D brought Full HD quality to entry-level. With 1920×1080 resolution movies and 20 FPS rate (frames per second) movies are recorded to SD memory. Unfortunately it doesn’t have any external mic input like the first photo camera that can shoot Full HD movies, Canon EOS 5D Mark II. However, since it is an entry level, not having an external mic input is acceptable.

Memory

        500D supports SDHC compatible SD memory slot. We should remind you that you must have a class 6 speed memory card. You need class 6 for shooting movies without any interruptions.

Conclusion

       With features like 15.1 Megapixel high resolution, 3” LCD and full HD movies, EOS 500D is continuing to be a leading model in its field.

         HP’s computer with touch screen looks great on first impression. Touchsmart IQ506 doesn’t occupy too much space on your desk because it doesn’t have a case and everything is located behind the monitor. Monitor is high quality and supports full HD. After watching a movie with it you are not going to like other monitors.

      Touchsmart includes a TV card inside and it’s easy to use with the remote control. You can use your finger as a mouse on the screen but your finger doesn’t have a right click so you need a mouse sometimes. It is also possible to write or paint something with your hand. Software that comes with the product allows you to play video, display photos etc.

       A wireless keyboard and mouse are also in the box. Using another monitor is an option with the s-video out. If a HDMI port had been on it, it could be absolute perfect. Anyway, Touchsmart IQ506 is a great entertainment center.

     General Mobile has given importance to portability on DST 700. After the bulky cell phones that we used to see this model is different than others. It can house two sim cards. The most important thing is DST 700 has very low SAR rates so it doesn’t threaten your life!

     The phone looks great with metallic color on front and has powerful speakers. You can make recordings from FM radio as well as listening music. Another great feature is possibility of scheduled recording. In this way you can record any radio program in a determined time without opening radio. Of course earphones must be plugged to do this. During phone call we experienced an average sound quality. Besides, 3.2 megapixel integrated camera gives an average performance as well.

     If you are having a phone call with one sim card and your other sim card is being called in the same time, phone doesn’t ring and sends a busy signal. Promised maximum talk time is 5 hours and maximum standby time is 350 hours.

 Philips GoGear Spark SA2920 MP3 Player

I think GoGear Spark is in a different place when I compare it with others. Why would I think that? One of the best designs I have ever seen so far, that’s why.

When you hold GoGear SA 2920 you look for buttons on sides to use it but you will not find anything except options, on-off and volume. There is a reason for that, this player’s control buttons are actually its frame. The Spark was designed with squeezable edges,  allowing four directions of control. Squeezing the top or bottom edges of the Spark allows you to scroll through your music lists or FM radios, and squeezing left or right allows you to change songs or rotate through the main menu icons. In this manner it is possible to use the player without seeing in your pocket. This intelligent design was combined with very high sound quality. It is quite an enjoyment to listen music with it.

         Player is rechargeable from USB port. The software comes with the product allow you to update. With its square design and 1.75 inches square and 0.5 inch thick dimensions it is able to fit into anywhere. It does not play video. However, in fact, not having video support is good for a small player like this. It does not have radio as well. If you want radio you should check out SA2945.

Nikon D300 digital SLR camera review

Nikon presents a great SLR camera, model D300. For an experienced photo-lover it is not a camera to walk around always with. I guess the wave the D300 has created is affecting competition significantly. Nikon fixed weaknesses of the D200 and added some new features. We also can say D300 is a small version of D3. This camera really deserves all praises.

            When we look body, we see that Nikon did not change the design a lot. Besides it is not necessary. Invulnerable and airproof body of the camera is a great feature for photo-lovers. Optical viewfinder is also perfect and provides a sharp view. It was improved to provide to view %100 of the displaying area.

         New AF system is one of the innovative characteristics of the D300. Most reason of it is that camera’s system works with 3D matrix analysis color data. When you see from viewfinder of the camera and see focusing areas are changing with the objects are going to be pictured, you completely get surprised. It works great when there is enough difference between colors.

         New processor of this camera that works with EXPEED processor is fairly impressive. When we look in the manner of image quality we see that D300 has eventually brought Nikon with same level with its rival Canon and Nikon is even overtaking it in some points.
